Parents have several important roles to play with ScienceStart! They can encourage and share their children's sense of curiosity and wonder. They can help children "figure out how to find out" the answers to questions they have. They can offer support and help when children are trying new activities or developing new skills.

Parents are also central to helping children learn the language to talk about their thoughts. Parents can introduce new words to describe the concepts their children are discovering through their explorations of the world around them. They can use language to help children notice things in the world around them, "Look, see the shadow on the ground?" which also helps children learn how to use language to describe things they notice or think about.
