contains 20 complete science lesson plans, daily suggestions for language and literacy lessons, daily math lessons, and weekly suggestions for activities to be included in all areas of center-based play. Autumn Science
provides opportunities for children to participate in multiple activities using common fall materials and to talk with adults and other children as they do so. They will actively participate in the science cycle, making predictions, comparing them with findings, and reporting results. New vocabulary words used in the context of the science activities are introduced. Children will begin to understand how to sort and categorize materials by their characteristics and how to follow simple patterns. Additionally, children participating in this month’s curriculum will engage in several long-term investigations, keeping track of their data using charts and graphs. Later, children will reflect on their data to create beginning explanations of real-world phenomena like weather, migration, and seasonal changes taking place around them.
